Take care of your body and your body will take care of you. I believe so, 1000%. I live it everyday. I listen to my body & I know when it is upset with me. I am a vegetarian and I eat healthy 90% of the time. Actually to be honest, I cannot be categorized as a vegetarian, I am just a healthy eater. Basically I don’t eat meat or chicken, no cheese or milk, I would eat the cheese if it is on the pizza for instance, which I probably eat once a year but I never buy the cheese. The only time I have milk is with my coffee and since am cutting down on the coffee so there goes the quantity of milk in my diet to a minimum.
My daily diet consists of Tofu, fresh fruits all kinds , dried fruits ( natural organic, no added sugar ), avocados, nuts (raw if possible but roasted if I am on the road and have no other choice), fresh or cooked vegetables, coffee with milk, grains like chickpeas and lentils, yogurt, Fish and CHOCOLATE is my sin :), my favorite is Nutella straight from the jar with a spoon while on the road. Ha, just the thought of it makes me want to go and buy one but I will not leave my desk right now at all, I will keep concentrating on writing this paragraph and eventually forget about the Nutella. There you go, this is one of my daily challenges I talked about in my first blog.
Living healthy for me starts with my own way of life because I surely cannot change people around me. For instance, I cannot stop people from smoking so I either avoid, as much as possible, smoking areas or in the case where it is impossible to do so, I just stay until I cannot bare with the smoke anymore, which is not too long.
One diet I greatly believe in is the raw diet. My first test with the raw diet was over 10 years ago when I tried it for lent, so I ate only raw food for 7 weeks. It was incredible how I felt, my body was clean, my skin glowing and my digestion was, wow, amazingly smooth. Since then, I have done the raw diet a few times for 2 or 3 weeks in a row. Now, I do it 5 or 6 days only, every couple of months, as a cleansing. The only down side of the raw diet is not enough protein which I can have in the nuts and a few other raw food but it is not really enough, which is why, I only do it a few days at a time.
